Yeti Airlines makes emergency landing after bird-hit

A Yeti Airlines aircraft made an emergency landing at Biratnagar Airport after it was hit by a bird during take-off.

The aircraft, a Jetstream-41, had taken off for Kathmandu on 1:20 pm when a bird hit damaged the engine of the aircraft. Despite the damage, the crew of the plane safely guided the plane back to the airport.

“The wheels of the plane had just left the ground when the incident occurred. It landed shortly afterwards,” said Sub Inspector Jalandhar Baral at the airport.

Yeti Airlines Biratnagar Airport station manager Prem Kunwar confirmed the incident and informed that the damage on the plane is being assessed. “Passengers will be flown by another plane. The damaged jet will fly only after detailed inspection,” he said.

There were 27 passengers and crew members onboard the plane.
