What is the situation in Kathmandu now?

We are receiving many many messages regarding the current situation in Kathmandu…well here’s the summary:

Aftershocks: Yes we are receiving some mild aftershocks, its however, not at all scary…various sources say aftershocks can be received up to one week…

Weather: Well the clouds are quite clear (at least in Maitidevi area), slim chances that it will rain….

Major Earthquake: Too much of rumors that a major 9 Richter scale earthquake will hit Nepal..but ALL MEDIA SAYS earthquakes cannot be predicted..SO PLEASE DON’T PANIC…

Electricity : It’s improving and many places now have electricity. Nepal Electricity Authority said that the disrupted power supply will return to normalcy within four days following the arrival of Indian power grid experts…Read details here.

Phone Network/Internet: Not every places in the city has good phone reception and internet but it is sure improving and getting better than what was before. Additionally, many international carriers have called free calls to Nepal (and vice versa from NTC)

Offices: Many offices including banks might open from tomorrow; we will be joining from tomorrow as well. Also our friends from NTC informed that they have started going to work from today….

Where are people staying?: Many people in the city are still out of their houses, garden, open area, Tudhikhel, car, roads and various other places…as they are worried about another major earthquake..(The 9 Richter scale is a rumor, however)

Food & Water Supply: All tented places doesn’t have enough of food and water supply, many volunteers – national and international, organizations etc are making there best attempt…
