The entire village of Dodhara-9 in Kanchanpur district is on the verge of displacement due to the gradual erosion of the lands by flooding in the Mahakali River every year.
A local Min Bahadur Sunar said that most of the families were compelled to leave the village after floods in Mahakali River waterlogged the area and started eroding the land every year.
Only 35 out of 150 families remain in the village.
Some of the displaced families were taking shelter at their relatives’ homes and some went to India with the family members.
The village, spread on 50 bighas of area, is under flood-threat with the beginning of rainy season every year.
The floods in the River started to displace the families since 2039 BS.
