UDMF to observe Black Day on Constitution anniversary

The United Democratic Madhesi Front on Sunday decided to observe a Black Day on September 19 this year, the first anniversary of Constitution promulgation as per the Nepali calendar.

The bloc of some Madhes-centric parties, which had been protesting the new Constitution since it was yet to be promulgated, made a decision to this effect today, according to a statement issued by Tarai Madhes Democratic Party leader Brikhesh Chandra Lal on behalf of the UDMF Secretariat.

The meeting decided to hold a black out on that day for half an hour in the evening, according to the statement.

The UDMF cadres would also stage demonstrations with black flags in all district headquarters in the afternoon on September 19.

Likewise, the alliance said it would pay tributes to those killed in the UDMF protests before and after promulgation of the Constitution with a candlelight vigil at various places in the next evening.

The meeting directed constituent parties of the UDMF as well as of the Federal Alliance to organise the events accordingly.
