The main opposition UCPN (Maoist) boycotted the Legislature- Parliament meeting on Monday accusing the government of endorsing a discriminatory budget . The parliament meeting has been deferred following the Maoist’s protest.
Earlier on Sunday, lawmakers from the ruling parties had objected to the budget for fiscal year 2015-16.
The opposition lawmakers alleged that Finance Minister Ram Sharan Mahat disregarded the reconstruction while preparing the budget . The lawmakers stood up and begna to obstruct the parliamentary proceedings soon after discussions on Appropriation Bill commenced.
UCPN (M) Chief Whip Giriraj Mani Pokhrel said they would not participate in House session as the budget did not pay heed to the peace agreement and post quake situation. The party lawmakers left the meeting after Pokhrel’s remark.
Also, CPN-UML lawmakers Rajendra Prasad Pandey, Bidur Sapkota, Ram Hari Subedi, Parwat Gurung, among others, accused Nepali Congress of focusing on its General Conclave and ignoring the problems of earthquake victims.
