Two nabbed with stolen idol

Police have arrested two persons with possession of a stolen idol of Buddhist deity Tara Devi from Bijeshwori-15, of Kathmandu, on Wednesday night.

The arrestees – Dawa Lama (21) and Prabin Lama (19) – had stolen the idol worth around Rs 600,000 from the house of one Ani Hisen Ghechen situated in Kimdol Height, near Chhoyaling Gumba. Both Dawa and Prabin hail from Kavre district, and are temporary residents of Kathmandu.

The bronze idol was stolen at around 5 pm yesterday. A police team deployed from Metropolitan Police Circle, Swyambhu, nabbed the individuals at around 10 pm from their rented room in Bijeshwori, near Hotel Bajra.

Investigation is underway, police said.
