Two people were killed and sixteen others severely injured in a bus incident in Bardiya district on Wednesday morning.
Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) of Bardiya District Police Office, Deepak Kumar Basnet, says the passenger bus met with the accident at Rambhapur area along the East-West Highway.
The deceased have been identified as Praksah Bhat of Mahendranagar, Kanchanpur district and Harhari Kadel of Tanahu district.
According to DSP Basnet, the speeding passenger bus (Na 5 Kha 1307) headed to Mahendranagar from Kathmandu fell 25 meters below road due to poor visibility caused by smog.
The injured 16 passengers are undergoing treatment at Kohalpur teaching hospital, Banke. Altogether 35 passengers were travelling by the bus, Basnet says.
Police has taken the Bus driver Nabin Prasad Joshi under control for further investigation into the incident.
