HETAUDA: Police in Makawanpur today made public the identities of two persons who were arrested on charge of cheating general public by selling gold-plated items in the district.
Tirthalal Rumba, 43, of Basamadhi VDC-3 and Hari Bishwokarma, 37, of Hetauda municipality were made public at a press meet at District Police Office, Makawanpur. Police had arrested the duo from Hetauda last Friday.
A group belonging to Rumba had cheated Rs 25,000 from Sanu Makton, Rs 25,000 from Birman Thing, Rs 25,000 from Aitasingh Ghalan, Rs 53,200 from Kalimaya Ghalan, Rs 36,640 from Babulal Thing and Rs 120,000 from Shanti Syantyan at Palanshe VDC-9, Makawanpur on June 19, said DSP, Dipak Thapa, of DPO. He said that three other cheaters are still on the run.
Acting on a tip-off, a police team collected three pieces of gold-plated materials from the victims’ houses, said SP Ganesh Aire. He said that the fugitives still have been carrying four such gold-plated materials. SP Aire further added that the cheaters could swindle other people as well.
