Tremor felt in Kathmandu; epicentre in Sindhupalchok

The National Seismological Centre said the tremor felt at 3:07 pm on Wednesday was another aftershock of the April 25 earthquake last year.

It was measured at 5.4 local magnitude with the epicentre in Sindhupalchok district.

It was the third aftershock above magnitude 5 in February.

The NSC records show that the epicentre lied northeast of Sindhupalchok district headquarters, Chautara.

Earlier at 11:57 pm on Sunday, a magnitude-5.5 aftershock was felt with the epicentre in Gorkha district.

The NSC had recorded an ML 5.5 aftershock with its epicentre in Sindhupalchok district on February 5.

After the devastating April 25 earthquake of ML 7.6, the National Seismological Centre has recorded as many as 435 aftershocks of local magnitude 4.0 or above till today.
