Taxi driver nabbed for robbing passenger

Police have arrested a taxi driver on charge of robbing a passenger.

The arrestee has been identified as Prem Bahadur Thing (35), hailing from Salyang-7 of Nuwakot district. According to police, he had run away in his taxi (Ba 1 Ja 3297) with a passenger’s purse containing money, on Monday at Satghumti-29, Kathmandu.

Thing had sped up his vehicle as soon as passenger Rajan Pariyar (33) got off the vehicle and was about to take his bag from the seat. The bag Thing had run away with contained Japanese Yuan 350,000 and NRs 40,000.

Thing was arrested at around 8:45 pm yesterday. Police also confiscated the purse containing money from Thing’s rented room.

Investigation is underway, police said.
