A suspension bridge over Korte Khola, which links Mamkha and Ratmate of Okhaldhunga, snapped yesterday night.
The bridge had snapped after landslips that followed incessant rainfall hit the bridge yesterday night.
One-third of the 200-metre long bridge has fallen into the river.
A team of technicians from District Development Committee said the bridge was constructed in 1991/ 92.
Sources at the DDC said that more than eight lakh rupees had been spent to repair the bridge, but in vain.
Locals at Ratmate, Serna, Kuivir, Diyale, Pokhare among other VDCs have been completely cut off from the district headquarter Okhaldhunga after the bridge snapped yesterday night.
It is said that hundreds of villagers, who had been using the bridge, are facing problems.
Meanwhile, the villagers have been compelled to walk more than two to three hours to use another suspension bridge to reach their destination. Bharat Pokahrel, a local of Mamkha said human settlements in the area were at high risk of flooding.
