Supreme Court seeks written statement on CK Raut case

Supreme Court has decreed Special Court to provide a written statement about the case of anti-nation activities-accused CK Raut on Sunday.

As per the apex court’s ruling, the Special Court has to furnish a statement by Tuesday, September 23, says Supreme Court spokesperson Srikant Poudel. “The next hearing on Raut case at the apex court is on Wednesday.”

The Supreme Court has further instructed the Special Court to conduct medical checkup of Raut and include a medical report with the statement.

The Supreme Court has ordered continuation of Raut’s judicial custody in today’s ruling. A two-member bench of the court comprising Justices Girish Chandra Lal and Sushila Karki delivered the ruling today.

Earlier in the morning before the treason-accused Raut was produced at the court of law, he resorted to fast unto death in custody claiming that the police carried out mental torture on him.

“Raut has started fast unto death saying that police conducted mental torture on him and stopped him from speaking with others,” says Bijay Kant Karna, a rights activist, who met with Raut along with three other activists.
