The investigating committee of the Nepal Police on Saturday called SSP Ramesh Kharel at the Police Headquarters for investigation.
Talking to THT Online over phone, Spokesperson of Nepal Police, SSP Ganesh KC said “Kharel has been summoned to the headquarters to record his statement from today.”
On Friday, the Election Commission had denied the Home Ministy’s request to transfer SSP Kharel citing that the codes of conduct implemented for the upcoming by-elections on June 22 restricts Nepal Police from transferring chief of the Metropolitan Police Range (MPR), Kathmandu.
Nepal Police Headquarters had formed a three-member probe panel led by Deputy Inspector General of Police Bigyan Raj Sharma to investigate the alleged remarks that SSP Kharel made about DIGs who aspire to be promoted as AIGs.
Kharel had made public remarks at a function on last Saturday that DIGs aspiring to become AIGs rush to visit ministers with cash-laden briefcases to secure their promotion.
