Singha Durbar suffers more cracks

The central government administrative building, Singha Durbar that suffered cracks and fissures during the 7.8 magnitude earthquake of April 25 has been further damaged by the 7.3 magnitude quake that struck on May 12.

The historical building houses several government ministries including the Cabinet Office or Prime Minister’s Office.

Some of the government ministries at the Singha Durbar are operating from tents following the damages. Those include some departments of Prime Minister’s Office, Ministry of Youth and Sports and Ministry of Labour and Employment.

A major portion of Singh Darbar was destroyed by a fire in 1973 after which certain parts of the building were rebuilt.
