Seven students injured in ASCOL clash

Seven students were injured in a clash ensued between two student unions – one close to the Unified CPN-Maoist and the other to the CPN-UML — in the Capital today.

It is reported that the clash broke out after the cadres of the All Nepal National Free Students’ Union (ANNFSU) close to the UML set the furniture inside the office of the Campus Chief on fire at the Amrit Science College (ASCOL).

The clash took place when the other group tried to stop them from doing so, said All Nepal National Independent Students’ Union (ANNISU) leader Dipesh Pun.

During the clash, two students of ANNISU and five of ANNFSU sustained injuries.

The ANNFSU has been organising various protest programmes at the campus demanding the Campus Chief’s resignation claiming that he failed to maintain peace and order.

Police arrested Ritesh Sapkota after the clash but he was released after a while.

The student leaders from both unions have been holding discussion regarding the incident, now, said Police Sub-inspector Roshan Shah.
