Different seven political parties have jointly announced protest programmes against the decision of Madhyapur Thimi Municipality to hike 40 to 900 per cent tax es in different services provided by the municipality.
The parties blamed the municipality for not consulting them before taking such decision of hiking the tax in different sectors.
The parties frequently requested the municipality to rethink the unanimous decision of hiking tax es but their requests went unheard, therefore, they were compelled to announce different protest programmes, Madan Sundar Shrestha, chairman at Madhyapur Urban Committee of the CPN-UML, said.
The CPN-UML, UCPN (Maoist), CPN-Maoist, NWPP among other political parties have announced the protest programmes.
As per the first round protest programme, the parties will call pen down at every ward offices of the municipality from July 20 to 29.
