Seven days deadline to forge consensus among political parties: Nembang

Chairman of the Constituent Assembly (CA), Subas Nembang, has said that the term of the Questionnaire Formulation Committee extended by CA for seven days was to forge consensus among political parties.

Talking to media persons at Ilam headquarters on Sunday, Nembang expressed sadness over not being able to promulgate the new constitution on January 22. He however expressed the commitment of promulgating it within a few months, without declaring a fixed date for it.

Stating that political parties have reached near to a consensus, the CA Chairman said the new constitution would be promulgated through consensus. Nembang said, “The issue of judiciary system has already been finalized, political parties are ready to go for a mixed electoral system with the difference only over the percentage between FPTP and PR. It will be settled soon.”

Clarifying that there was no obstruction among political parties as UCPN (Maoist) Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal has told that there would be no obstruction from his side on the issues of form of governance, Nembang said political parties are likely to agree to the three-point proposal tabled by Bijay Kumar Gachchhadar regarding federalism.
