Some domestic and international flights to Kathmandu have been affected on Monday due continuous rainfall in the region, Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA) officials said.
Thick fog and lightning coupled with rainfall affected the flights, the TIA said. Domestic flights to Solukhumbu, Lamidanda and other hilly regions have been affected while some international flights to TIA were diverted due to poor visibility in the runway.
Planes of Druk Air and Silk Air landed some time ago while 11 other international flights were diverted to New Delhi, Lucknow and Kolkata of India.
According to the officials, a Turkish Airlines plane from Istanbul was diverted to Turkey, Air Arabia plane to Kolkata and Air India plane to Varanasi.
