The United City Higher Secondary School in Saraswatinagar of Kathmandu-7 has been charging Rs. 5,000 for the School Leaving Certificate (SLC) marks-sheet to the recent SLC graduates of the school.
The school has been dilly dallying since the past one month and bargaining on the charge of the SLC marks-sheet , which is supposedly provided free of cost for the students.
Six students had graduated from the school this year. The school management and the local guardians argued throughout the day on Monday over the issue.
The school administration led by head teacher Subash Joshi has demanded five thousand for the SLC marks-sheet of my ward, says guardian Tika Dahal.
As the law does not specify the limit for it, we have been charging Rs. 5,000 to our students, said the +2 coordinator of the school Harihar Chapagain.
Meanwhile, assistant District Education Officer Prakash Sapkota of Kathmandu, who is the chairman of the school management committee, said that no decision had been taken to charge any fee for the marks-sheet.
Likewise, District Education Officer of Kathmandu Shanker Gautam said the school cannot charge any amount for the marks-sheet.
Action as per the law would be taken against anyone doing so, he added.
