SC moved against Upper Karnali PDA

A writ petition has been filed at the Supreme Court against the project development agreement (PDA) of Upper Karnali hydropower project, on Wednesday.

Dambar Rawal, on behalf of 36 locals from the upper Karnali region, filed the writ demanding the repeal of the PDA, reasoning it is incompatible with the Interim Constitution, existing laws and acts.

Petitioner Rawal shared that the hearing for the writ was scheduled for October 12.

Nepal’s Investment Board had signed the PDA for Upper Karnali hydropower project with an Indian company, GMR, on September 19.
