As many as 67 families of Malhaniya Tole in Rampura Malhaniya village of Saptari district are preparing to spend the third night under the open sky.
Their houses were gutted in a massive fire on Thursday and they are still awaiting resettlement and relief materials from the government and non-government agencies.
Constituent Assembly (CA) member from Saptari Constituency-3, Umesh Kumar Yadav, and Rajbiraj Municipality had distributed some foods to the fire victims on the day of the incident.
Yadav distributed some additional relief materials today. The District Development Committee also provided relief package on Saturday.
The distributed materials, however, are insufficient, a victim Rita Devi Yadav complained.
“Our children were forced to stay hungry,” she said, adding the victims are more worried about shelter than food.
Staying under the scorching sun in the month of April has been painful, she said.
She urged the government agencies to manage shelters for them soon.
As many as 165 houses and cowsheds were gutted in the inferno two days ago.
Meanwhile, lawmaker Yadav accused the government to not paying serious attention to woes of the fire victims.
