Saptakoshi water level rises, 22 sluice gates at barrage opened

Water level in the Saptakoshi River has continued to increase due to incessant rainfall in eastern Nepal.

The water current in the mighty river was measured at 140,070 cusec at 6:15 on Tuesday evening, according to the District Police Office, Sunsari.

As the water level rose, 22 sluice gates of the Koshi barrage were opened at 6:00 pm.

The water flow was 126,230 cusec in the afternoon.

Locals around the Saptakoshi barrage are alarmed after the rise in water.
