Rs 2 mln of govt’s social security fund looted

BAJURA: Unidentified persons on Thursday morning robbed Secretary of Gotre VDC Rajesh Ray Yadav of Rs. 2 million, meant for distributing social security allowance.

Yadav said that a gang of two persons robbed him of the cash at Jogichauthi of Gotre VDC-8 while he was on his way to the VDC from Kolti bazaar this morning at around 10.

Following the incident, security personnel from Kunni Police Post, Kolti Airport and District Police Office have been sent to the incident site for investigation, inspector Hikmat Bohara of the District Police Office, Bajura said.

He said that they have detained two persons in connection to the incident.

District Police Office, Bajura informed that Yadav had arrived in the VDC from Kolti just yesterday.

Last year, unidentified persons had looted Rs. 6.4 million in cash from Pandusain VDC. The money was collected as revenue from Bichhaya, Rugin, Sappata, Jagannath, Wai and Badhu of the district.

It was later revealed that the Ram Prasad Joshi, Secretary of Jagannath VDC had orchestrated the robbery.
