RRT formed to monitor Dashain market

Government has formed a 24-hour Rapid Response Team (RRT) to monitor anomalies in food this festive season. 

According to Department of Food Technology and Quality Control (DoFTQC), the RRT consists of experts from the department and police personals and will be on duty 24 hours. 

Speaking at a program in the capital on Saturday, Pramod Koirala, spokesperson of DoFTQC said “We have formed the team after receiving number of complaints from public regarding the quality of food products supplied in the market.” 

Koirala informed that complaints were received regarding quality of foods, their labels and date expired products. 

“The team will be alert 24 hours,” said Koirala, adding “We urge public to immediately inform the department in case they notice any sort of anomalies in food products they purchase.”
