The repair works of the damaged transmission line of the Upper Bhotekoshi Hydroelectricity Project has started in Sindhupalchok district on Thursday, December 25, 2014.
The 45-MW project remained disrupted for the past five months, following damages caused to its four towers and that the repair could not be carried out due to protests of local political parties which demanded 10 per cent project share for the locals.
“Finally, the repair works started with an agreement of allocating six percent shares to the locals,” said General Manager Narendra Prajapat of the power company.
The repair of four damaged towers is expected to be completed within the next three weeks. The disruption of project led to an increment in the duration of power outage in the country by two hours, according to Nepal Electricity Authority.
