Rain disrupts flights at TIA

Domestic flights were slightly affected at the Tribhuvan International Airport here following cloudy weather due to the Westerly wind.

The flights that operated normally until the noon were affected after 3 pm. The flights to Pokhara, Biratnagar and Bhadrapur were affected due to rain, according to the TIA Domestic Flights Office.

The Office stated that flights of the Buddha Air and Yeti Airlines to Pokhara scheduled for 3 pm were affected. The airplanes of these two airlines had to return to Kathmandu after they could not land in Biratnagar and Bhadrapur.

The mountain flight tomorrow morning might be affected too, the Office said. It is stated that none of the flights to international destinations were affected.

Flights to various destinations to Karnali Zone from Nepalgunj were also affected due to the rainy condition today. Flights to Humla, Dolpa, Mugu and Bajura were affected due to snowfall.

The Westerly wind that originated from the Arabian Sea and entered Nepal after passing over Pakistan, Jammu and Kashmir and the western part of the country has brought rain in most places.

Meanwhile, a normal life in Khumbu region of Solukhumbu district has been affected due to snowfall since Saturday. One and a half feet of snow has accumulated, leading to a halt in the tourism activities.

Flights to and from all the three airports in Solukhumbu district were halted due to the snowfall, it is stated. RSS
