Bearing in mind the trouble people face while securing tickets to travel home for Dashain, the transport-entrepreneurs have opened advance ticket-booking on Wednesday to facilitate the impending rush during Dashain.
Thousands of people travel across the country during Dashain each year to celebrate the festival with their families.
With the announcement, people queued up at various ticket counters across the capital from early morning, fearing unavailability of tickets.
General Secretary of Federation of Nepalese National Transportation Entrepreneurs, Saroj Sitaula informed that early advanced booking was available at ticket counters at New Bus Park, Old Bus Park, Kalanki, Sundhara, Koteshwor, Gaushala, Chabahil and Jorpati.
Similarly, public support rooms were established in the capital under initiation of the Metropolitan Traffic Police Division to monitor vehicles exiting from the capital and to resolve problems faced by public while traveling.
The rooms were established at Satdobato, Koteshwar, Gaushala, Jorpati, New Bus Park, Swayambhu, Kalanki, Balkhu, Old Bus Park and Sundhara.
Representatives from the Department of Transport Management, Traffic Police, Nepal Police, Transport Entrepreneurs and Trade Union will be stationed in the support room.
The representatives will ensure travelers’ security, check-examine whether tickets are sold as per the quoted fare, ascertain that mandatory ticket fare- rate board are on display at counters and public desk, and monitor if people are buying fake or double ticket.
