Nepal Oil Corporation (NOC) on Sunday made it clear that it will not hike price of the petroleum products particularly petrol and diesel for the time being despite government announcement to impose Rs 5 per liter as infrastructure tax on petrol and diesel.
During the budget speech on Saturday, Finance Minister Bishnu Prasad Paudel had announced to impose Rs 5 per litre as infrastructure tax to fund the Budhi Gandaki hydro project.
According to Mukunda Ghimire, Spokesperson at NOC, it will fix the price of the petrol and diesel after a review on it.
“Despite the government’s decision to impose tax on the petrol and diesel, we will not hike the price of the petrol and diesel for the time being”, Ghimire said.
General consumers were in worry that they will have to pay Rs 5 extra on every litre of petrol or diesel that they buy following the announcement.
