Two persons, including a seven-year-old boy have been killed when an oxygen cylinder they were apparently trying to clean exploded this morning in Sotang-6 of Solukhumbu district.
The deceased have been identified as Pidili Tamang (26) and Shakti Rai (7), of Sotang-6, Solukhumbu. Pidili’s husband Chamare Tamang and one Mingmar Tamang (15) were seriously injured in the incident.
According to police, one Bhuwan Singh Rai, father of the deceased Shakti, had found the oxygen cylinder at a trekking route in Solukhumbu and brought it home, intending to use it for some purpose. Those caught in the accident were trying to clean the cylinder’s rusted surface with sharp weapon khukuri and hammer.
The injured are undergoing treatment at Sotang Health Post.
