One dozen bus staff injured in Rukum clash

RUKUM: At least one dozen bus staff were injured when a clash ensued between Sisne Himal Bus Transport Entrepreneur Committee and Chaurjahari Transportation Private Company Ltd on Wednesday.

Chairman Mahendra Buda of the Sisne Himal Bus Entrepreneur Committee claimed that youth mobilised by the Chaurjahari Transportation Private Company Ltd attacked his staff while they were sleeping at a hotel yesterday.

It has been learnt that the clash erupted between the two transportation committees regarding the issue of bus operation.

Chairman Buda said that all the injured in the incident were staff of Sisne Himal Committee.

The injured staff said that the attackers had exploded two bombs and also opened fire in the air. 

According to the District Police Office, Rukum, one police constable was also injured in the incident,

Inspector Shiva Raj Chettri of the District Police Office said that a large number of police personnel were mobilised in the incident area to the take the situation under control.

Sisne Himal Bus Transport Entrepreneur Committee claimed that four vehicles of the committee were completely vandalised by the attackers.

Earlier, Sisne Himal Bus Transport Entrepreneur Committee had been operating its services from Khalanga of Rukum to Chaurjahari Salli Bazaar.

The Committee had also operated its services along Dang, Nepalgunj, Chinchu, Surkhet and Salli Bazaar road sections when Musikot Chaurjahari road section was obtructed in the past.

Meanwhile, Chairman Jitendra Budhathoki of the Chaurjahari Transportation Private Company Ltd informed that his company would not let the vehicles of the Sisne Himal Bus Transport Entrepreneur Committee to ply on the Chaurjahari-Salli Bazaar as the committee is planning to operate its services along the road section soon.
