The Nepal Medical Association (NMA) on Friday condemned the government decision to determine doctors’ consultancy fees.
The Ministry of Health and Population (MoHP) on Wednesday had fixed ceilings on fees of the medical professionals according to their academic qualification and experience.
NMA, the umbrella organisation of medical doctors in Nepal, demanded that the government categorise doctors as per availability of human resources in the health sector in Nepal and the doctor-patient ratio defined by the World Health Organisation (WHO).
A press statement issued today by NMA General Secretary Mukti Ram Shrestha also reminded the government to comply with the nine-point agreement signed between the Association and the Ministry on Sunday.
Expressing its commitment to serve people of the nation, NMA asked the government to increase quality of health service at government-run facilities.
