The new transportation rates allotted by the Ministry of Physical Planning, Works and Transport Management will come to effect from Monday. The Ministry has fixed the deducted transport fares two weeks ago.
Transport entrepreneurs, however, have said that they would deduct the transport fares as per the scientific fare determination mechanism agreed earlier.
The Transport Management Ministry had deducted the transport fares in the Capital by 2.3 per cent after Nepal Oil Corporation lowered the prices of petroleum products, eight times, adopting auto-pricing mechanism on September 28 last year.
Ministry Secretary Tulsi Sitaula said that legal action will be taken against any entrepreneur not abiding by the deducted fare rates. He said that the fares will be increased only if the price of petroleum products rises by 5 percent.
