A Chinese billionaire entrepreneur and Laureate of the prestigious Right Livelihood Award, Huang Ming, disclosed special solar projects planned for Nepal at the closing ceremony of ‘Make Nepal Green’ seminar.
Responding to a question by Jalan Kumar Sharma, CEO of Sana Kisan Bikas Bank, Huang Ming, founder of Himin Solar Energy Group, said a formal announcement would be made when Prime Minister K P Sharma Oli visits China next month.
The two-day meeting held on ‘Make Nepal Green’ in Kathmandu witnessed synergy and broad consensus between politicians, officials, bankers, farmers, civil society, and Laureates of the Right Livelihood Award, also known as the ‘Alternative Nobel Prize.’
The Minister of Agricultural Development, Prime Minister’s Office, and Nepal Rastra Bank offered support to ‘Make Nepal Green’ yesterday while NRB Director Gopal Prasad Bhatta asked the organisers to provide a full-fledged roadmap that the bank could study in order to make a development recommendation in the pre-budget report.
The meeting ended with the drafting of Kathmandu Declaration, which formulated a vision to “promote and upscale sustainable agriculture, harness renewable energy, foster eco-tourism, and develop information communication technology”.
