Nepal clinches 7 medals in Int’l Open Taekwondo C’ship in UK

Nepal has bagged seven medals – one gold and three silver and bronze medals each, in the 10th International Open Friendship Taekwondo Championship held from July 26 to 27, 2014 in the UK.

According to team coach Ashok Khadka, Amita Rai claimed a gold medal in Poomsae and a silver medal in Women’s U-46 kg category. Coach Khadka who also competed in the Championship added a silver medal in Poomsae.

Similarly, Arjun Sunuwar added another silver medal in Poomsae while Rohit Tamang (U-68 kg), Sarita Shrestha (U-46 kg) and Manoj Lama (U-58 kg) won a bronze medal each.

Around 400 players from various countries took part in the tournament. Altogether eight players from Nepal competed in the senior level during the Championship.
