Former Prime Minister Baburam Bhattarai has said his ‘Naya Shakti’ will transform into a political party by the end of Nepali year 2072.
Speaking at his residence in Sanepa after receiving a memorandum from Reporters Club on Saturday, Bhattarai said he was engaged in discussions with every sectors to transform his Naya Shakti Abhiyan (New Force Campaign) into a political party.
Leader Bhattarai, who quit the UCPN (Maoist) to start the campaign for a new political force, brushed aside chances of rejoining the Maoist party. “The new force will fulfil the void which the outdated old one could not. Time has come for us to become new,” he said.
Speaking about the ongoing Madhes movement, Bhattarai suggested the solution be sought by seeking consensus on demarcation issue. “Solving demarcation issues will solve the problem,” he said. He also warned about the movement going beyond the control of the political parties if the demarcation disputes were not solved.
