A national magna meet will be held on December 9-13, 2014 in Kathmandu to observe the International Human Rights Day on December 10.
Organizing a press meet in Kathmandu on Thursday, December 4, 2014, Krishna Subedi, the program’s convenor and chairperson of Child Nepal informed that various national and international organizations working in the sector of human rights are organizing the event.
“Human rights-friendly constitution for sustainable peace and prosperity; collective campaign for child rights protection” is the slogan for celebrating the International Human Rights Day in Nepal this year.
“The magna meet will help concerned stakeholders to work more towards protecting human rights,” convenor Subedi said.
“This year also marks the silver jubilee of Child Rights Convention and we will raise the issues of children rights with priority in the magna meet. We urge all to make the event a success.”
Bhawani Kharel, advisor of the magna meet, said that all need to unite to end the situation of impunity and the magna meet will extend cooperation to this end.
Constituent Assembly Chair Subash Nembang will inaugurate the event on December 9, while Deputy Prime Minister and Home Minister Bamdev Gautam will conclude it on December 13.
