National Budget: Govt employees’ salary hiked by 10%

KATHMANDU: The government has hiked the salary of its employees by 10 percent. While field allowance for the government employees has been increased by 50 percent, budget for local allowance will be increased by 25 percent. Government employees in mountain region will get Rs 15,000 uniform allowance.

According to Finance Minister Dr Ram Sharan Mahat, a salary recommendation commission will be formed to review facilities of government staff and make necessary recommendations.

Government’s other plans for the security sector include establishment of Nuwakot Central Jail, modernization of immigration and online registration of Machine Readable Passport (MRP).

Meanwhile, Rs 28.86 billion has been allocated for Defence Ministry.
