NARC official booked for bribery


The Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) on Sunday filed a corruption case at the Special Court against an official of the Nepal Agriculture Research Council (NARC).

The anti-corruption constitutional body said NARC technical assistant Gaurimaya Ghimire received a kickback from five persons while they had applied for a position at the Council.

According to CIAA, Ghimire collected Rs 397,000 from applicants Rita Dangal, Goma Dangal, Pratibha Adhikari, Nagendra Ghimire and Rabin Karki.

Claiming that she acted against Section 3(1) of the Anti-Corruption Act, 2002, the Commission has asked for maximum punishment on her as per the Act.
