Education Minister-led recommendation committee has finally recommended the names of Vice Chancellors (VCs) for the four universities on Sunday.
The posts of VC in a total of seven universities in the country were lying vacant for some times as recommendations could not be made in time.
According to a member of the recommendation committee, the committee has picked Professor Tirtha Khaniya for Tribhuvan University, Professor Kul Prasad Koirala for Nepal Sanskrit University, Professor Ghanshyam Lal Das for Purbanchal University and Professor Bhushan Shrestha for Far Western University.
According to legal provisions, a committee led by the pro-chancellor recommends the name and cabinet appoints VC in line with the recommendation.
Prime Minister is ex-officio chancellor and Education Minister is the pro-chancellor of the universities.
According to sources, the committee, however, is yet to pick the names of VC for remaining three universities as CPN-UML and UCPN (Maoist) are yet to provide the names.
