With the promulgation of the new constitution, fifty-two-year old Yogendra Ghimire of Dhankuta has finally shaved his beard and cut off his hair on Tuesday after eight long years. He had vowed to not do so until the arrival of the constitution, which happened finally on Sunday.
Ghimire decided to start the initiative during the election of the first Constitution Assembly. He had initially planned to get a new look immediately on Sunday after the promulgation of the new constitution. However, he couldn’t do it until Tuesday as he was busy in celebrations. Ghimire who is a farmer by occupation of Teliya VDC-8, said that the moment is historic not only for him but for all Nepalis.
He added, “Friends and relatives would always ask me to cut my hair and beard to get rid of the haggard looks. But I did not move an inch from my determination and always had patience.”
