The Department of Food Technology and Quality Control (DFTQC) has said that it will take action against Maggie and Mayos instant noodles.
In a press statement issued on Monday, the department stated that action will be taken against the two instant noodles as per the Food Act and Regulations after their samples failed quality tests with detection of high levels of Mono Sodium Glutamate (MSG).
The department further said that action will be taken against the noodle brands as MSG, a food additive, was found in the samples even though the packets say “no MSG”.
Meanwhile, the department has said that the lead levels in Maggie and Wai Wai are under the permissible limits.
The department, in its statement, informed that other brands of instant noodles were being tested and urged everyone to seek permission and test any food products before importing them.
