The family members of lawyer Shekhar Basnet, who went missing from Biratnagar last Friday, have appealed the stakeholders to find his whereabouts at the earliest.
Basnet is also the member of Morang Bar Association.
Organising a press meet in Biratnagar today, Basnet’s wife Isha accused the police administration and Bar Association of neglecting the family’s complaints about Basnet’s missing.
“He had no reason to leave the house all of a sudden,” Isha said, also claiming that he did not have any enemies who would kidnap him. “We have moved from pillar to post, requesting all concerned bodies to look for him, but all in vain.”
Similarly, 57-year-old Laxmi Prasad Niraula has also been missing for the past 10 days from Biratnagar. Niraula, who is also the Chairman of the Area Development Committee of Biratnagar-16, went missing 10 days ago. According to Niraula’s son Ram Krishna, his father had gone to a relative’s place in a bicycle. “He later left the bicycle there and left,” he said. “He has not come in anyone’s contact ever since.”
The missing man had been living with his son and his wife.
Meanwhile, District Police Chief Bishwo Raj Pokhrel said police have already launched a search operation to locate the whereabouts of both the missing individuals.
