Government has removed Chief Executive Officer of Kathmandu Metropolitan City Office, Purna Bhakta Tandukar, from his post on Monday. Tandukar has been discharged from his post and transferred to additional group citing his failure to accomplish ‘official responsibility’ in connection with rescue and relief following the recent earthquake.
“The Metropolitan chief’s role was found irresponsible in addressing the problems of metropolis residents,” said a ministry source, “He has been transferred after no significant progress could be seen despite repeated warnings.”
According to an official from Ministry of Federal Affairs and Local Development, Tandukar could not fulfill his responsibility even after getting directives to immediately arrange the basic living conditions for Kathmandu residents displaced by the earthquake.
However, it has been learnt that no decision has been made regarding the appointment of a new CEO at the KMC office.
