Apples worth over Rs. 70 million have been exported outside the district from Jumla in first three weeks of September.
Jumla farmers are now greatly benefited from the export of apples from air and land route daily.
Good income has inspired farmers here to get involved in commercial apple farming in the coming years.
Currently, not a single truck coming from Nepalgunj and Surkhet with food grains to the district returns empty.
The organic apples have found markets in Kathmandu, Butwal, Dang, Nepalgunj and Surkhet, but have not reached eastern cities as expected.
Senior Agriculture Development Officer Tej Narayan Gaire said more than 2,000 metric tons of apples have been already exported to other districts from Jumla this year.
