Israeli Minister for Agriculture and Rural Development, Yair Shamir, who was in Nepal for his two-day official visit on January 8-9, 2015, has expressed his commitment to support the agriculture sector of Nepal.
Speaking at a program organized by Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FNCCI) in Kathmandu on Friday, Minister Shamir said that his government is ready to support Nepal on modern agricultural technology for modernization the agriculture sector.
Israeli Minister Shamir further said that his country wants to provide training to Nepali farmers in Israel and it will help develop new skills for them.
“We are looking into the possibilities of establishing agricultural demonstration farms in Nepal, so that we could share Israeli agro-technology more easily in Nepal.”
Currently, 500 Nepali farmers are receiving agriculture training in Israel.
Israel is rich in agro technologies including micro-irrigation, water management, high crops productivity, post harvest and modern dairy, among others.
