Irrigation engineers‚ official held for taking bribe

The Commission for Investigation of Abuse of Authority has arrested three engineers and an accounts officer from the Chitwan-based Central Regional Irrigation Division Office No.5 on charge of taking bribe from the clients.

The anti-graft body said in a statement tody that engineers Ram Bhadra Pandit, Madhu Adhikari and Chakrapani Lamichhane, and accounts officer Rishi Bhakta Timilsina were arrested red-handed from Bharatpur while taking Rs 4,98,000 in cash.

A special team of officials from the CIAA apprehended them and further investigation is underway, Assistant Spokesperson at CIAA Keshav Prasad Ghimire said in a statement issued from Kathmandu.
