The Nepal-India border between Mahotari district and Bihar, Madhuwani and Sitamadi of India has been sealed from Tuesday.
A team from Sharshastra Seema Bal (SSB) deployed for the border security has blocked the checkpoints thereby barring the import of food stuffs into Nepal from India.
The SSB team has not allowed vehicles including cycles, motorcycles to pass through the border into India.
Similarly, no vehicles have been allowed to pass into India from Matihani, Bhittamod, Parsapataili, Jaleshwar, Bathanaha of Mahottari district.
Assistant Sub Inspector Ramesh KR Sharma deployed for the border security at Bhittamod said all the checkpoints near Mahottari district have been blocked following the direction of the Home Ministry of India.
“All the checkpoints have been sealed in view of the forthcoming election in Bihar as per the direction of the Home Ministry of India,” said Sharma.
Local people have been hit after the border has been sealed.
However, Dipak Kafle, Chief District Officer of Mahottari district, said that he has not received any formal message regarding the border sealing.
A provincial election is set to be held in October in Bihar. It will take place from October 12 until November 5 in five phases.
