The Government of India donated 40 ambulances and eight buses to different welfare organisations and educational institutions in Nepal on the occasion of the 69th Independence Day of India on Saturday.
Indian Ambassador to Nepal Ranjit Rae handed over the vehicles to recipient organizations from thirty three districts on Saturday at a ceremony held at the Indian embassy at Launchaur, Kathmandu, according to a press statement issued by the Indian Embassy.
On the occasion, Ambassador Rae read out a message of best wishes sent by the President of India, Pranab Mukherjee which stressed, among other things, India’s support for peace, stability and development in its neighbourhood.
Ambassador Rae also distributed cheques worth Rs25.3 million to 20 former soldiers and widows and next of kins of deceased soldiers of Indian Armed Forces. The ambassador also presented books to 45 Libraries, educational and training institutions located in different regions of Nepal.
