Hollywood actress Yeoh pledges Rs 12.5 million for quake victims

Renowned Hollywood actress Michelle Yeoh arrived here in Kathmandu on Friday. This is her second visit to Nepal. Earlier, Yeoh visited Nepal on April 23 to participate in the Asian Regional Sports Congress organised by Federation of International Automobile (FIA) under the United Nations.

Yeoh is accompanied by her husband Jean Todd, who is also the president of the FIA. Michelle and her husband Todd have donated 100,000 euro (nearly Rs 12.5 million) for the rehabilitation and reconstruction of earthquake victims through Emergency Action Fund of Nepal Automobile Sports Association (NASA).

NASA has committed that it will provide driving training and auto-mechanics training to 30 people, including 10 women, each year to ensure employment to them.

Michelle had cut short her visit to Nepal and returned following the April 25 Great Earthquake. The duo met UN General Secretary Ban Ki-moon on April 28 and shared their experience of earthquake while in Nepal.
