KATHMANDU: The Parliamentary Hearing Special Committee (PHSC) of the Legislature-Parliament has begun hearing with persons recommended for ambassadorial positions in six countries.
The committee conducted the hearing with Kali Prasad Pokhrel, Dipak Dhital and Ambika Devi Luintel, on Friday.
Pokhrel and Luintel are recommended for Canada and France respectively while Dhital is nominated for the Permanent Representative in Geneva.
During the hearing, the proposed ambassadors pledged to keep the national interest and needs in the center and carry out their duties in disciplined and decent fashion.
Proposed ambassador for Canada and non-residential ambassador to Cuba, Pokhrel said he would identify market to boost up country’s exports to reduce trade deficit.
Likewise, proposed Permanent Representative to Geneva and ambassador to Switzerland and non-residential ambassador to Italy Dhital said he would take steps for repatriation of Bhutanese refugees in Nepal.
Likewise, proposed ambassador to France and non-residential ambassador to Spain, Portugal and Greece, Luintel said that she is committed to strengthening political and policy-level relations between Nepal and France.
After the hearing of the three proposed ambassadors, Committee Chairman Kul Bahadur Gurung said the hearing of remaining three would begin on September 21.
Earlier, the government had recommended six senior officers of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs as the ambassadors.
